The feeling of reading a book that you can't put down is exhilarating. Finding books that meet this need for a variety of students can be challenging. By having a variety of titles in my classroom I will be able to help my students find that story, or those characters, that they fall in love with.
My students are mostly freshmen and juniors in high school.
I have some sophomores as well. All of the classes that I teach are basic grade level classes, and encompass a wide range of activities. I have band students, athletes, cheerleaders, leadership kids, FBLA members, media production students and more. The range of interests and abilities within my classroom is enormous. They are fantastic kids!
My Project
A part of the curriculum within my school is independent reading, and projects based off of that reading. Having a wide range of book titles in my classroom will allow me to help students to find titles that are interesting to them, and therefore open up a world of reading to them.
Every student deserves to find a book that they love.
For those of us who love to read, we understand what a gift that is and how amazing good books truly are. I believe that everyone has something out there that they would love, they just have to find it. Finding one book that a student is interested in and enjoys has a lasting and drastic impact on them. It opens up an entire world that was previously uninteresting and unavailable.
