This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are an inquisitive, kind, and silly group of neuro-diverse middle schoolers exploding with personality! They attend public school in a diverse neighborhood in Chicago and qualify for free lunch. Since receiving the books from our last DonorsChoose project (Leveled Library), my students have ignited their love for reading. Having books at their reading level that also appeal to their specific interests has been transformative. Right now, they are hungry for more books! I want to honor their hard work and love for reading by giving them access to more books.

By donating to this project, you will give my students the opportunity to keep practicing fluency and decoding.

Our goal for 2023 is to read, read, read. We are off to a great start, and with your help, we can keep the momentum going all winter and into spring. After seeing the impact of our last book donation, I can confidently say that a donation to this Books, Books, Books! project will help a student keep reading, that otherwise would not. In addition to books, a few cushions were added for my readers who like to sit on the carpet with a good book!
