My Students

My students are in an Autistic Support classroom in a Title 1 school within the School District of Philadelphia. They all receive free breakfast and lunch.

My students are faced with challenges in and out of the classroom but they are eager to learn and experience new things.

They all have their own personalities and I do not want them to lose this with not being in the classroom.

Due to the pandemic my students are going to be learning from home until at least November. Without the normal in person instruction in the classroom, I am trying to do things that will help them with their learning while they are working from home. I want to have books to be able to read to them when we are online together and send some books home to them in order for them to read to their families.

My Project

Helping students begin to learn that reading is fun is perfect way to build better readers. I will be able to read stories to my students about topics that are important to the world we are living in. Also the books are fun and I can make them interactive by asking questions and putting up polls to see what the students are learning about what I am reading. The students can watch books be read to them online or read to themselves during their asynchronous time so I want to be able to provide them with books they can learn from but also make it fun. Education is changing every single day, and so are the interest of my students.
