This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I would like to have a complete set of The Circuit for my classroom. I think my students will love reading this book about the life of a migrant child.

I teach at a great school, that just happens to be lacking in materials for students.

My students live in a very urban, inner city environment. Reading books would provide an escape from the realities of their lives and allow them to read about the struggles and perserverence of others.

My Project

A complete set of these books will allow my students to read at home and possibly read to other family members at home. I find it difficult for them to share a book during our read a loud time. Having a book for every child in my class will help them follow along when we read and help in word recognition and grammar.

This project is very dear to me because I remember reading and loving books.

I see my students not feeling comfortable walking to the public library to check out books. They feel like it is not safe and if I provide a book for them to read, I am sure it will foster the love reading.
