My Students

We are a small town school with students from many different demographics. Many students receive free or reduced-price lunch, and there is a wide range of home dynamics. We have made great strides academically and continue to grow.

My students have a large range of ability levels and interests.

They enjoy learning new things and sharing their learning. They also love reading and hearing great books during our read aloud time. They love making connections to characters in our stories and between books we read throughout the year.

My Project

These books will be used with the Rooted in Reading program that I recently purchased. My school corporation recently adopted the Lucy Caulkins Units of Study curriculum, which not only gets kids reading independently, but puts a lot of emphasis on shared reading and read alouds.

Students learn how to be a good reader by seeing good reading being modeled daily.

These books will allow me to model good reading with quality literature and give students engaging activities to go along with the books to aid in their comprehension of the book. These books will also help instill a love of reading in my students that will hopefully carry on for years to come.
