My Students

Our school was founded in 1965 and named after a veteran Mobile Press Register writer. The school was dedicated September 26, 1965. Our staff of 30+ teachers serve almost 600 students in grades PreK-5. Our clubs include the National Honor's Society, E.Y.E.-Engaging Youth in Engineering, Student Council, and Good News Club. We participate in an annual Food Drive for the local Bay Area Food Bank, an annual Toy Drive for the local Salvation Army Angel Tree, Drug Free Week, Father's Walk Your Child to School Day, Bullying Awareness Campaign, and the annual United Way coin drive just to name a few.

My Project

My students need books to read quietly during D.E.A.R. time in the library media center. During D.E.A.R. students are allotted time to read books of their choice in the media center. The books will also be utilized during transitional periods.

DEAR time will increase vocabulary, improve concentration and comprehension, develop background knowledge, and build fluency.

My students require a great selection of books and the time to read them without interruption. I can supply the time, but we need books as well. Practice reading will lead to improvement in reading and overall reading comprehension. I would like to receive books at various levels. Our school serves grades PreK-5.
