Books! Books! Books!

My students need an assortment of books for reading and writing including "Ball" and "The Giving Tree."

My Students

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go!" My enrichment students love to read and write. Our classroom is filled with excited readers and writers that love to analyze text and use mentor texts to shape their own writing.

The enrichment class meets for 30 minutes a day.

Most of the students are currently reading at least two grade levels ahead of their peers and are always on the lookout for great books to share with each other or shape their own writing. They love doing author studies and reading award winning literature.

My Project

I am requesting an assortment of books for reading and writing including "Ball" and "The Giving Tree." We use great stories to analyze text, develop characters and learn in-depth story elements. Most of the time the kids read high interest books in small groups, but other times they use a mentor text to study author's craft. The books selected for this project give the students opportunity to analyze the authors craft so they can try to use this craft in their work.

These books will give the students the opportunity to utilize the stories on a daily basis.

They can have the books in their hands to read over and over. Using high quality literature allows the students' academic needs to be met along with satisfying their love of reading.
