My students need books like Enemy Pie, Piggie Pie, and Prince Fly Guy with characters that can help them practice their reading skills independently. The books that I chose range from character development to social issues that are currently dealing with.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
A classroom library can open up possibilities and can seal concepts that are taught by teachers. Independent Reading is a non-negotiable and is done daily, but what saddens me is that the students don't read what is being covered in class.
My school is 100% free lunch, we are low according to our scores, but we have faith and hope in our work ethic.
The students here have plenty potential to shine, but our lack of materials hinder us.
We only have 135 students. We are #smallbutmighty! There are many possibilities that we have as a school if we could get quality books.
My Project
The books that are I selected are books that represent my students and some issues that they currently face. The books in this listing also can help the students develop their confidence as readers. I want to get these books into the hands of my students to show them a variety of books and to improve their reading.
Exposure to books is important in the lives of children.
My kids need to see themselves portrayed in a positive light. Please help my students! Books that look like me! Books that inspire! Help us get books!! Please! Exposure is key to our success and the lack could be our demise.
