My Project

My students are always teaching me new things in class. Whether it be the newest meme, video, or phrase that is floating around the internet. As they continue to share their hobbies with me, I want to do the same with reading. Many students hate to read. The minute they see a book or hear an assignment that includes reading, there are already grumbles and groans. Yet, each time I shared a short story, students slowly began to see and appreciate the joy that can be found in books.

For this project, the focus was primarily on getting a class set of books that students could read for fun.

The classics, such as "Harry Potter" and "The Hunger Games," are great starting points to get students interested in fantasy and dystopian novels. Newer books such as "Gone" and "One of Us Is Lying" bring up interesting questions that can lead to amazing discussions.

By donating to this project, you are helping water the seed of knowledge and joy that can come from books. The addition of headphones is great for moments when students need to hear an audio version, and is also perfect for when we have testing.
