My students need books that are engaging and will hold their interest. With these books, they will be able to deepen their comprehension, enrich their vocabulary, and learn more about the world.
I teach a group of social and energetic sixth graders in a small Utah town. My students are challenging and quirky. They love being social and have a ready sense of humor. They are learning to be more responsible for their own learning as well as their actions.
My students are becoming more aware of the world and where who they want to be in the future.
They are realizing that they're actions matter and that what they do will shape their future opportunities.
My Project
Having a large classroom library reflects the importance of literacy in a classroom. It can provide students with access to books that they may not have otherwise.
To spark student's interest and enthusiasm about reading, books must catch children’s attention, captivate their imaginations, and make them want to return to their pages again and again.
These books will be used to deepen comprehension strategies and grow their vocabulary. Through reading these books, my students will expand their appreciation of quality literature and reading in general. These books will take my students to new places, help them to understand the world around them a little better and teach them valuable lessons and increase their love of reading.
