My Students
My students attend a high poverty school in an urban area. They come from many different backgrounds, and each offer a unique piece to our classroom. They learn from each other everyday and appreciate what makes each member of the class unique. They are excited and motivated third graders who can't wait to discover more out in the world! With support this year, they will grow to be more independent and will become more confident and excited about learning in their community
My Project
Changing grade levels= need new books! I'm very excited to be transitioning to a new grade level next year- third grade! After teaching first grade for the past 6 years, I'll need to make some changes to the classroom library. My class would love interesting chapter books, series books where they can latch on and keep reading, learning more and more about characters. They need graphic novels, mystery books, nonfiction books, science books, sports books, books about strong people and places and more! Third graders are strong, interested readers and are really starting to form deeper connections to the text. An exciting variety of books will help them on the journey.
