My classroom is diverse and energetic. The students in my classroom have a variety of backgrounds and academic needs. There is nothing worse than trying to choose a book from a bin on your level and not seeing anything you like!
My school is in a high poverty area.
Many of my students are have free and reduced lunch. The students in my classroom include students with autism, students with learning disabilities, students who are identified as gifted and talented, and students that fall everywhere in between. Many of my students are reading below fourth grade level. It is very hard to meet the needs of all of my learners with a limited library.
My Project
With the books I am requesting, my students will have greater access to reading materials on their reading level. The additional books to add to my library will give students more books to choose from that may interest them. Students are more engaged while reading when they are reading something they are interested in. I have requested books on various levels to meet the many needs in my classroom.
These books will make a difference in my classroom because they will spark an interest in my readers which will encourage them to read more.
The most effective way to get better at reading is to read more! The more books you read the smarter you will become!
