My Students

I teach fourth grade at an Elementary School. During this pandemic, we have been coming to school every day. At this time, we are not doing any virtual learning or a hybrid schedule. This is my second year as a certified teacher, however I know a majority of these students.

The students I have are visual/hands-on learners.

My students come from a very rural area. Most of the time they come to school with limited supplies. My students are very bright individuals who are eager to learn new and exciting things.

My Project

My students are about half way finished with Richard Peck´s ¨A Long Way from Chicago.¨ Some of my most challenging students are so engaged with the adventures of grandma, that they are asking if there is a sequel to this book. At this age, it is hard to find a book or short story that is entertaining and interesting enough to keep the attention of almost everyone in the class. This year, my students come in daily wondering how much of the book we are going to be reading. For me as a teacher, this warms my heart and makes me proud to be their teacher. I am hoping to surprise them after our Christmas break with the book ¨A Year Down Yonder.¨
