Books & Boogie Boards, Oh My!

My Students

From the second I see my students smiling faces in the morning, until the second they walk out of our classroom at the end of the day, they are eager and excited to learn! It is my job to foster that love of learning by making each day productive, fun, and engaging!

I have an amazing, unique, caring, and intelligent group of fifth graders in my classroom this year.

Some come from stable homes that support and encourage their children’s learning. While for others, school is the only place where they can go and feel safe, loved, and successful. Due to this, I have a wide range of abilities in my classroom. About a quarter of my students are currently performing below grade level and require extra support to understand the curriculum they are being taught. Even though some my students struggle, they are still eager to learn and participate in class. I love seeing the aha moments when a student finally gets a concept they have been struggling with or when students help each other be successful in class. I strive to make my classroom a place where all students can be successful!

My Project

Getting these class book sets will allow my students a more engaging, rigorous, and safe way to improve their reading and literacy skills! These books will allow my students to each have their own copy, which ensures their safety in not having to share a copy with another student. They will also have the opportunity to take books home in case distance learning needs to occur. These books will cover multiple Nevada literacy standards, such as: RL.5.1, RL.5.2, RL.5.10, SL.5.1 as well as many social studies standards.

School should always be fun, but this year that statement is even more true!

With the addition of Boogie Boards to my classroom, I will be able to create a fun, engaging, and safe environment to help my students' emotional well-being. Boogie Boards are an engaging way for students to share their answers and collaborate together on projects, ideas, and assignments in a way that everyone can participate.
