This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work at a small school with a fantastic feeling of community among students, staff, and families. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and many are English Language Learners who are eager to learn and be at school.
My Project
My students come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures, and I want each and everyone to see books in my classroom that represent themselves and their families. Additionally, I want them to be able to see and learn about the cultures and lives of others.
I want the books in my classroom to be both a mirror for my students as well as windows into the lives of others.
I have been actively working to diversify the characters in the books in my classroom library so that all students can connect with characters like themselves. This project will help me to add more diverse books to my library so that we can make connections and celebrate our differences.
