Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The books I am requesting are specifically curated for my class. I teach 5th grade in South Los Angeles and have a group of wonderful, talkative, and sweet students who are eager to learn.

My class contains students who are at different reading capabilities.

To make my library accessible to all students I curated a list of graphic novels that feature topics that they enjoy. My students are avid readers. They enjoy sitting down and reading a good graphic novel.

The perfect reading setting for them is: dimmed lights, fireplace projection with soft piano music playing in the background, and a graphic novel.

They would sit there for hours and just read if they could.

Having graphic novels in the classroom has made reading an enjoyable experience for all my students. Students who struggle with reading now enjoy reading because they can use the images to support them! Graphic novels rock!
