This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative and eager Spanish learners. I currently teach Spanish level II to 150 students. My hope and desire is to create lifelong learners that will continue with Spanish or any other foreign language. I think the acquisition of a second language is vital in today's world. Literacy is an essential skill for language acquisition. Literacy in a target language paves the way for reading, writing, listening and speaking, which are all key skills in language acquisition.

My Project

Help me provide an individualized and personalized learning experience by providing students the opportunity to read in Spanish.

Reading and discussing comprehensive books in Spanish enhances and facilitates language acquisition.

It also improves literacy skills and the students ability to effectively communicate.

These Spanish readers include diverse grammar, vocabulary and topics that will help students gain confidence in the language. They will see the grammar and vocabulary used in class put to real world use.

Gaining confidence in one's abilities in the target language, in this case Spanish, reassures students and persuades them to continue with the language.
