The students in my class are multi-handicapped. They each have unique strengths and weaknesses. My students come into the room with big smiles and enjoy the individual attention my assistants and I give them.
The students in my class love to be read to and enjoy the touchy-feely sensory books.
All my students move around the school environment in a wheelchair. Some students have visual impairments and need individual assistance to participate in classroom activities. I like to have multiple sensory learning in my classroom.
My Project
The students in my class enjoy being read to and need help turning pages on their own. When we read board books we can have the students use their hands to help turn the pages. This gets the student involved in the book. The large colorful pictures get their attention and help the students with visual difficulties. Board books are much easier for little hands and can be wiped clean between students. The diversity of these books will be able to be used throughout the year for our units of study.
