Working in our small rural low-poverty Title I school, the students face difficulties in and out of school. Many of those challenges cannot be seen or are not openly shared. I know that some students have difficult living situations. Many of our students don't have every day things that most of us take for granted.
The students here are resilient and do amazing things every day especially when given the right opportunities.
We are always teaching them about being pono (or doing what is right) and taking care of their ohana (or family).
My Project
We are a small school on the verge of building a great Makerspace environment for our students to explore, build, dream, and, most importantly, play! This budding Makerspace will be an area with books for students to read and look through, and hands-on activities for students to create, learn, and most of all, have fun!
We are creating a Makerspace that will be smart, safe, and inviting for students to physically and mentally explore.
In this project we are requesting many books and STEM-related items to include in our Makerspace Library.
This is project I am requesting books for students about computer apps, hands-on project, and using your ideas to become the best engineer possible. I am also requesting story books about STEM and our environment. I am also requesting colored craft tape for students to use in hands on activities, and a block set for students to practice counting and building.
These fundamental items for our students will be our foundation for great things to come. I am so excited about the "blooming" of the Makerspace and the Makers of Pope School!
