My Project

My project contains many books that incoming students will need. They are books from different authors, identities, cultures, and experiences. Students are emerging language learners and will need a new set of books that will allow them to be lifelong learners. Being able to read and learn about their interests and experiences of others will help build empathy.

Our building does not have a school library and students have expressed interest in a multitude of titles and genres.

I hope to provide access to these texts within our school. I teach all grade levels of English language learners from all grade levels. I am excited to share these texts with both ELA and ENL classes. Students will also receive snacks as they are often coming from working class families and some with no home. Many students have told me they have not had dinner or lunch. Thank you for your help.
