Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
How frustrating is it when you just can't find the color you need while coloring? How about when you're really interested in a topic you were introduced to and can't find a book on it? Welcome to my students' lives.
I am a fourth grade teacher in a low income, high-need community.
Most of my students come from bilingual households where money is tight. I supply almost all of the books my students will read during their fourth grade career. I also supply most, if not all, of the art and writing tools they will use.
My Project
I have requested pencils, markers, and books for my classroom. I have requested the Ticonderoga pencils so when my students are out of pencils I will have one available for them. This particular brand sharpens fast and doesn't break easily. I have requested a classpack of markers and extras in red and blue because those get used up quicker than the other colors.
I have also requested books that are related to our curriculum. These are topics that the students get interested in after being introduced to them during lessons. I don't have many books in my library for these topics so I'd like to add to it to keep them interested and learning! I hate to get them excited about a topic and then they can't investigate further.
This project will make a difference in my students' lives in various ways.
Most importantly, it will keep them interested in learning in a critical year where they take three state tests and begin to dislike school. Thank you so much for taking an interest in my students' education.
