Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year my students have battled through in-person learning during a global pandemic. Bravery and perseverance are accurate words to describe students in room 34. They continue to work hard and push through the challenges of erratic absences and health challenges.
I am continued to be impressed with the desire that each of my students' has to learn.
We have made huge gains closing "learning gaps" and making our way to 5th grade. These students are amazing and deserve every opportunity to experience a fulfilling academic experience.
My Project
We will use the Scholastic news magazines for research and discussion starters. Students will learn to enjoy having a physical magazine in their hands while learning to read for pleasure and personal growth. We will use the magazines as sources for research projects, practice summarizing, and adding strength to our arguments in persuasive writing.
A love for news and literature is paramount to create life long learners.
The novels will be used as enrichment for students. Students will be challenged to consume literature and report back with their thoughts and takeaways. They will encourage other students to read the book and explain why.
