This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is located in a rural area of Santa Rosa, California. Many of my students come from generations of families who've attended my school. Every year, my students overcome many challenges both inside and outside of the classroom. Many of them have parents who often work two jobs just to put dinner on the table. I'm inspired every day when I see the effort they put into their schoolwork and how resilient they are. For many of my students, the classroom is their safe place to be. I am blessed with the opportunity to provide them with a supportive and safe environment to learn and be themselves. With all of the challenges my students overcome, they enjoy coming to school everyday and learning. They truly inspire me to keep working to provide them with the best learning experience! Thank you for supporting my amazing students.

My Project

The new Science Magazine subscription I'm requesting will provide my students with accurate up-to-date Science information to access. Currently, my school district hasn't adopted new Science Curriculum to go with the next generation standards which have recently been released in California.

My students will read both News and Science Articles independently and in small groups.

Currently, their Science curriculum is outdated and doesn't adhere to the new standards for learning. I'll be able to better prepare my students for the end of the year state Science testing with these magazines.

This project also will provide them with new fiction and Science books to access through my classroom library.
