I am beginning my fourth year of teaching at a new district this school year in a new grade level. I will be teaching 3rd grade. I had to leave behind all of my things in my previous district, so I am in need of so many things. My students deserve a classroom environment that they can thrive and be successful in! 70% of the student population in the Intermediate building take part in the free or reduced lunch program. We have a very diverse population of students. A large portion of our students speak English as a second language. I want to set them up to be successful, lifelong learners.
My Project
I am new to 3rd grade this year, and I do not have a carpet or many chapter books in my classroom. I am very passionate about teaching not only the curriculum but also compassion, empathy, life skills, and responsibility.
With your donation, a KINDNESS carpet will be purchased that we will use for classroom meetings and throughout the day for centers, reading, and flexible seating choices.
The carpet has words of kindness written all over it to inspire students to be kind and helpful to others.
I will also be purchasing many books that teach students about bullying, how to stand up for themselves and others, how to take responsibility for their actions, and how to be kind in a world that is often not very kind. I will use these books again and again throughout the year and pass them around throughout our 3-5 grade level building for other teachers to use as well.
