My Project
We are excited to introduce our “Books and Blankets” community event, designed to support literacy and foster a love of reading within our school. To make this event successful, we are seeking funding for cozy blankets that will create a warm and inviting atmosphere for all participants.
The “Books and Blankets” initiative will be led by our students, who will take an active role in organizing and hosting this special event.
Students will gather in our school library, and get to choose a free book and blanket to share with their family over winter break. This event will not only encourage reading but also promote community building and social interaction among students from different grades.
As part of the preparation, students will help organize and gather book donations for those who may not have access to books at home, and plan engaging activities like group read-alouds and storytelling sessions. This hands-on experience will empower students to take ownership of the event, develop leadership skills, and foster a spirit of collaboration and kindness.
This initiative will benefit the entire school community, which includes students from kindergarten through fifth grade, as well as teachers and staff. By creating an inclusive environment, we aim to encourage connections among students across different grades and backgrounds. Additionally, we hope to extend our reach to families, inviting them to join us in promoting literacy and the importance of reading at home.
The blankets we are requesting will play a crucial role in making our “Books and Blankets” event a success. They will create a comfortable and inviting space for students to gather, read, and enjoy each other’s company. The blankets will also help define the area where the event takes place, making it a cozy retreat for everyone involved.
