My Students

Most of my students come from high poverty backgrounds. They get free breakfast in the morning and free lunch.

I have 37 students this year that absolutely love to learn, need a lot of attention and nurturing, and benefit from hands-on materials that will keep them engaged and focused.

They come to school with different experiences and a big range of academic abilities. Each child brings something special to the classroom. All of my students just want to be loved and treated with respect.

My Project

My students need books they can read and Dr. Seuss books are always a favorite for my first graders. They also need books from a variety of reading levels and the bins will help keep our books organized!

What first grader doesn't like Dr. Seuss books?

I grew up with those books and absolutely loved them because of the rhyming and repetition in the books. I want my first graders to have the same enjoyment that I had when I was a kid.

My students will benefit greatly from this project because they will have a variety of books that will engage them in reading. Firsts graders really need books with a lot of repetition and rhyming words to build on their literacy skills. The bins will help us stay organized!
