My Students

My students are excited to come to school each day and to learn from one another. They enjoy working in collaborative groups and sharing their knowledge with each other. They enjoy using their critical thinking skills to evaluate new information while integrating the arts to show their learning. They get very excited any time we can use technology in the classroom, and they aren't afraid to try something new.

Jane Goodall once said, "You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you.

What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make." With this quote in mind, I want to help my students become aware of the impact they are having on the world around them.

My Project

I wish you could have been in my class today when I asked the students what books they would like to add to our classroom. Their enthusiasm inspired me to write this project. My students have selected a wide range of topics. Some are interested in learning about animals. A book like Sharks and Other Deadly Ocean Creatures Visual Encyclopedia is perfect. Other students prefer fantasy books like Wings of Fire and the Owl Diaries Series. Graphic novels, such as Dog Man, are a huge hit and will serve as a springboard for our art project. Students will use markers and cardstock to create their own cartoon-style character based on their favorite story.

I am excited to fill our classroom library with books chosen by the kids.
