Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you ever been in a class where the books are put in a bookshelf and the kids can't touch them or see them? This display bookcase will help display the books so the kids know what we have and are easily accessible. The science books will help teach the kids about nutrition.
I have 25 students in my class.
14 of them are English language learners and the majority are on free or reduced lunch. My students are from a Title One school. Many of them come from economically disadvantaged circumstances. Even though they face economic challenges, they come to school each day eager to learn new things.
My Project
There is an emphasis on health and nutrition in school. There is a huge push to teach kids to eat healthy and take care of their bodies. This can be difficult for 6 year olds... but anything is possible through literature. I would love a set of nutrition/health books that will reinforce the importance of health and nutrition. My students have limited access to books at home, so school is one of the only places they can access literature.
I am also requesting a book display. This can be put under the white board and filled with books. My students can come up to it and choose the book they wish to read. They will not have to struggle looking through shelves on a bookcase. The books will be displayed face forward.

Teaching nutrition and health is so important at this young age. The book display will help the children see what there is to read.
