This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My sixth graders are persistent and ready to face new challenges. They love learning! Their passion for learning inspires me to give my all as their teacher. I teach in an area of low-income and high poverty. Nearly all students qualify for the free lunch program. Our school is a wonderful learning community, yet it is very low on resources.

I want to be able to provide my students with the supplies and resources they need to become motivated, life-long learners.

My Project

My students need a bean bag to create a more inviting classroom library. Not only will the bean bag entice students to pick up a book and read on them, but they are a great form of flexible seating! I am also requesting an assortment of diverse books to fill our library.

Having diverse books in the classroom is important so that students can feel accepted and know they matter.

I cannot wait to support my students' love for reading while exposing them to more diverse books. Having diverse books allows for my students to learn to have empathy for others.
