Help me give my students books to supplement our class library. Books help to build a strong reading foundation for beginning readers. Without books to practice wiht, students will lose the opportunity to grow and become better readers.

My Students

My students are extremely loving and energetic. They want to learn and they try their best every day. Many come from backgrounds in which education is not valued as much as we would like. Parents do the best they can with what they have, which is limited in comparison to what I am accustomed.

Regardless of this lack of economic stability, the students enter school daily with enthusiasm for learning or to simply be in school.

My Project

I am a teacher from the Philippines and I arived to the US to teach first grade March, 2021. Unfortunately my first experience was teaching virtually to the students. During this time, I noticed that students struggled with reading. So, I was eager to get in the classroom and teach face to face and share books wtih them. To my dismay and the students', our class library was limited in the number of books in the classroom. The ones we had were not very well cared for. This project will allow us to have a diverse set of books that will give students the opportunity to practice their reading and to use all of their senses to experience the printed word.

Books Alive will bring stories to life for my students and make my teaching experience a memorable one.
