Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at my school are very sweet, polite and caring. There are a handful of special friends that I work with that either have emotional issues, family issues or need support in interpersonal skills. I particularly admire that many of my kiddos have embraced self-advocacy and ask for brain breaks or cool-down breaks. I work one on one with some or with small groups to learn and practice coping skills. I’m trying to provide more tools and incentives to keep kiddos on track, healthy and confident. It’s truly remarkable what some of my kiddos have endured in their short time on this planet so far. My goal is to help them feel strong, resilient, confident and loved.

My Project

Many of my kiddos are in the foster care system and I don't have enough resources to share with them. I want my kiddos to know that everything they feel is okay and that they aren't alone.

Through reading and discussing the books I hope to develop a true resiliency in my kiddos.

I want them to become strong, confident, and know they are loved.

I've used many similar books by same authors and they are written in a unique way that makes kids feel like they are writing it specifically to them. I've use some of these books in the past and kids just love them!
