This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library." -Jorge Luis Borges My students are juniors and seniors in English Language Arts classes.

Students in urban schools districts rarely have the opportunity to be the first ones to read a novel provided by the school.

New books have recently been donated to our library, however, not enough for the amount of students/classes I teach. Many of our current novels are outdated, worn and unappealing. Your donations would help buy new, student-centered, contemporary novels for our classroom.

My Project

With your help, students will be able to use these novels in class for independent reading activities as well as larger projects. Students will have the opportunity to select a novel of their choice based on genres of their interest. My students are passionate about reading and would like the opportunity to bring that passion to the classroom through a wider variety of new and exciting novels.

Donations will contribute to our growing classroom library.

Students will be able to make connections between the characters of their stories, the conflicts faced, the triumphs made, the adversities overcome and their own lives. Students will be able to dive into the world's of their novels while recognizing that many of the themes explored and the lessons taught are universal. My hope is that with your help, we can expand their love of reading!
