My students need mentor texts for writers' workshop, such as Roller Coaster, Hey, Little Ant, Bigmamas, I Wanna Iguana, Canoe Days, Owl Moon and other mentor texts.
My students are eager to become better readers and writers. We attend a wonderful suburban school with many opportunities. We are still in need of quality mentor texts. "A book is a dream that you hold in your hand". We are ready to dream...in reader's and writer's workshop!
My classroom is full of precious 2nd graders with a very wide range of experiences, schema and needs.
The students' abilities range from fluent readers far above grade level to beginning readers still learning the alphabet. Our suburban school has supplied us with many resources for learning within our classroom, but we are in need of quality mentor texts to enhance our reader's and writer's workshops.
My Project
I have requested a wonderful variety of mentor texts to enhance our reader's and writer's workshop. I have requested mentor texts which encompass such genres as literary nonfiction, realistic fiction, personal narratives, memoirs, persuasive and more! These mentor texts will help lead discussions about characteristics of the different genres that students will be learning about in 2nd grade. These mentor texts will be used daily for conferring with students, during mini-lessons and just to enjoy! These mentor texts will be used and enjoyed for many years to come!
My students are learning to love reading and writing.
These books will provide students a great mentor text in learning about different reading and writing strategies that will make them better readers and writers and help them perform at higher levels on state testing.
