My Students

My students are the most caring, unique, and energetic students you will meet. All of my students are diagnosed with different disabilities, and many of them are English Language Learners (ELL) as well. They come from low-income families and receive free school breakfast and lunch. Despite all this, they are filled with curiosity and are always eager to learn. The students in my class love to engage in fun activities, especially those that are hands-on.

My Project

Most of my students do not enjoy reading, mainly because they are struggling readers. This year, I would like to provide my students with books they find interesting, ultimately making their reading life the best that it can be!

Currently, my fourth and fifth graders are at the age where they are aware that they are below grade level and are embarrassed to read books that look "easy.'' I want to be able to provide them with interesting books on their reading levels that will allow them to feel engaged, excited, and eager to read.

Reading these high-interest books will help my students form great reading habits and will motivate them to strive for the higher reading levels. My students can also bring these books home and share with their families, which will in return build a better reading life for all.
