Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help me become more of a "book whisperer" for our students. While I am constantly working on promoting reading to our students and I attend conferences, it's been a while since I've taken formal training in how to create a culture of reading. This is why I would like to take, "Creating a Culture of Reading in Your School Library" through the leaders in the field, Library Journal and School Library Journal.

Our students deserve the latest thinking in how to create a vibrant reading culture.

This self-paced, online course will help me identify common barriers to reading in my school and explore a variety of strategies to re-engage students. I want to learn ideas to implement book clubs, student and staff review boards, and author visits, as ways to address reading challenges and collaborations with classroom teachers. By the end of the course, I will have practical tools and an actionable plan to promote and support a culture of reading at my school.
