Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a school where most of the population comes from low-income or disadvantaged households. The school, along with our entire school district, qualifies as Title I. Our school is located directly off of a major highway in California. We take pride in and see our school as a constant resource in the local community.

With digital learning and all materials online, my students are learning, with the rest of the world, how to change, adapt, and grow in order to become successful.

Many of my students come from first-generation households, in which many have parents who have never attended college. My students come to school in hopes of having a safe, engaging, and collaborative classroom. School today can have many challenges. There is a high amount of crime and poverty in the area that our school covers; we hope to challenge students to overcome and prove that they, too, deserve opportunities for growth. With your help, we can make sure they have the materials for success, health, and happiness.

My Project

This project is requesting one, full-size Book Vending Machine to be placed in our school cafeteria and used by all our students. As a school, students will be able to earn tokens that can be used for a book of their choice.

All our students will be encouraged to earn their tokens and can use them at the new BookVending Machine where students can select their very own books to take home and add to their own personal libraries.

We will provide new books monthly and help to replenish the supplies as they are rewarded. We will share, celebrate, and encourage our scholars to continue on their journey of reading. Books can help us to travel to new places that we have never been to. I hope that this project will encourage positive classroom participation, engagement, and instill a love of reading for all our kids big and small alike.
