My Project

My incoming 4th graders are at an age where the right book can turn them into lifelong readers. They are starting to figure out what they enjoy reading and are becoming more independent in their book choices. My goal is to help students discover new genres, authors, and topics they may not pick up on their own.The chef hats, aprons, tablecloths, placemats, and table number holders will turn our classroom into a fun book café where students can "taste" a variety of books. The themed setup makes reading feel like an event, increasing engagement and encouraging students to give new books a chance. As they rotate through tables, students will reflect on what interests them and create a list of books they want to read throughout the year.The goal of this project is to build excitement around reading, help students find books they genuinely enjoy, and strengthen their confidence as independent readers. Since these materials are reusable, I will be able to host book tastings multiple times throughout the year, helping students continue to grow and expand their reading interests.
