My students need big books and a variety of story telling kits, including hands on manipulatives in order to promote literacy and enhance student engagement.
"Who is the best preschool class in the whole wide world?" I ask my preschoolers on a daily basis, and they reply, "We are!!!" That's what I believe and want them to know I believe in them, love them and that they can do anything. My students come to school daily ready to learn, full of life and energy, and excited for the day ahead of them. They thrive in a nurturing, structured and challenging learning environment. Access to individualized, tangible, and thoughtful tasks help ensure my student's progress.
I teach at a Title I school in South Carolina where the majority of my students receive free lunch.
My students WANT to be in school because they want to learn and I WANT to help them begin their educational journey with a bang.
My Project
We plan on using the big books as a read aloud, shared reading and interactive centers to help them increase their literacy skills. They will definitely benefit from having more big books in our classroom! They will not only enjoy hearing the stories read to them, but will also benefit from the puppets and being able to interact with the books by acting it out and putting on a show. The larger print will help my students begin to notice letters and words and how we connect them to the story.

Reading is the foundation of education and opens up a new world to students of any age and needs to be practiced everyday. Big Books read-aloud can engage even the youngest learners!!!
