This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a low income and high English Learner population School.
I am so excited to have students back in my class, but we need books!!
My class is full of students who try hard and are excited to come back to school to see their friends and learn together! This is going to be so good for many of their social-emotional well being.
My Project
Many of my students are at different reading levels, so reading together as a class and discussing figurative language, sentence structure, vocabulary and comprehension. It allows all students to have access to the learning, relate to the characters and enjoy learning the story of history! We take notes on each chapter so that they can refer to their notes and learn organization strategies. We draw pictures of the imagery portrayed in the story we are reading. Novels are so much easier to connect with for these students and the long term excitement about what will happen next keeps them coming back for more!
