My Students

My students are so incredibly passionate. In my classroom English is a second language for every student. These kids have dived into an SEI classroom with a desire to learn not only the curriculum but English as well. When students go to doctors appointments, instead of going home they insist on coming to school. Students are disappointed when they don't have a worksheet to do at home because "how are we supposed to learn?" At the beginning of this school year I had students who could not recognize their own name, and now just a month into school and they are attempting to write sentences.

My Project

Many of my students do not have access to books at their homes. It is also very difficult to find books at their independent level that they are able to read to themselves, their parents, and their family members. These books will be sent home each night to have books at their level to read.

Book in a bag will allow the students to read books at their independent level each night!

They will bring the books back and trade them for a different book. This will encourage their love of reading, and assist them in becoming more fluent readers.
