Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We have started an after school book club for our third and fourth grade students. So many of our students are, unfortunately, behind their grade reading level. Additionally, many of our students speak English as a second language and come from refugee families. Our goal is to create a space where we can read fun and engaging books together to get our students actively reading again (because they enjoy it!) and to boost their reading confidence and skills. But we need help purchasing the books-- because I want every student to have their own book to look at, that can be expensive! We would love the help of getting large quantities of the same books so we can read them together!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
