Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project will help my class start book clubs and help with small group reading instruction.

Book clubs are a fun and engaging way for students to read high-interest books while taking some control over what they are learning and reading.

Getting book clubs up and running can be timely and requires a lot of practice in the beginning. Having the materials in this project will help with this process of implementation and help students become independent in the process as well. The tiles will be used to keep track of each group and what they are working on. Students who were absent can check their club tile and see what they need to do to catch up. The storage items will help keep all supplies in one place, which will make starting and cleaning up easier. Finally, sets of high-interest books for varying reading levels will bring some new books into the classroom. I chose some that are the start of a series to hopefully spark an interest in continuing the series on their own or with future book clubs.
