Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a high-poverty school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My students are thoughtful and enthusiastic learners.

They come to class each day eager to see their school family and tackle academic challenges. I am constantly amazed by their ingenuity and desire to be better than they were yesterday.

In my classroom, we focus on becoming learners, not just learning material. Hopefully, the skills they acquire are ones that will benefit them throughout their academic journey.

My Project

Book clubs are the BEST way to foster a love of reading for inexperienced readers. Students get to experience a new book with their friends while also learning how to read, process the text, and discuss what they're reading.

My students will be more engaged if they have the chance to CHOOSE which novels they read.

This will ensure they are motivated to read and complete the novel; growing their reading skills along the way.

These are all novels my students have shown interest in reading (especially the Ralph books!).
