My Project
Encouraging students to read is one of my main goals as their teacher librarian. I want students to enjoy the books they read--and discuss them at length that would motivate them to learn. One of the ways we do this is encourage English teachers to run "book clubs" in their classrooms instead of reading core novels.
In Book Clubs, students still can analyze literature, discuss literary functions, and write papers to meet Common Core State Standards in a more engaging way.
The difference is the ability to give students relevant, high-interest, and complex novels that speak to students. With Book Clubs, teachers are able to allow students to have choice in what they read, which increases their desire to engage with the book.
By donating to our donor's choose, you are allowing me to provide our English students with novels that inspire them. The books chosen for this Donor's Choose are inclusive, young adult novels. The characters' deal with problems that reflect our students' own, enabling them to have a deeper comprehension of the novels they study and thus allows for deeper analysis.
