Help me give my students quality books that can be used for book club. I am looking forward to reading these books in small groups with my children to develop reading, comprehension, and writing skills.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My classroom is a community of children and adults who are learning from each other every day! The majority of the children in my classroom come from low income environments.
Children in my classroom community love coming to school because it is a place of safety, mutual respect, wonder, work, and love.
Children are able to explore subjects of their interest while getting grade level content to push them to become their best selves. Quality literature is also a focus in our classroom community. Access to quality books sparks wonder in the children and pushes them to always learn more.
My Project
I am extremely excited to work with upper elementary children. Children in grades 4-5 are extremely excited to learn and many children in these grades are eager to read as well.
These book club books will give me the opportunity to conduct book clubs with different groups of children in my class throughout the week.
Children will choose which book they want to read which will create the different small groups. Within the book clubs, we will not only read together, but children will also have reading for homework and classwork. We will answer questions together and we will also practice writing about the books we read.
Book club books will give the children in my classroom community an even bigger opportunity to develop reading, writing and comprehension skills. I can't wait to read these books with my children!
