My Students
My first grade classroom is always a place for students to play, learn and grow together throughout the school year. My students are always eager to learn and to contribute to our classroom community.
My first graders are a group of diverse students ranging in abilities, but they all absolutely love reading.
We have a wonderful school community made up of fantastic students, helpful parents and caring teachers. I have worked hard to create a classroom library with engaging and quality books; and I would love for my students to have better access to these great books.
My Project
Quality and engaging books of various levels and genres are a very important part of creating a balanced literacy model in my first grade classroom. Students read books from our classroom library independently during reader’s workshop.
Having the library rack and picture book bins will allow students to access an organized and clearly labeled classroom library.
With this new rack and book bins, they will easily be able find and return books. Choosing their own books from the classroom library will motivate students to read and in turn, help them to become better readers. This project will help my first grade students have better access to the quality books in our classroom and create an organized and inviting library.
