Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are innovative, excited to learn, and full of curiosity. They surprise and inspire me daily. The children I teach make up a welcoming and kind-hearted community within the four walls of our classroom. My students come from diverse socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds. Fifty-eight percent of the students at our school are Hispanic or Latino and thirty-eight percent are socioeconomically disadvantaged.

I hope to be able to provide these incredible, enthusiastic students with the education that they deserve.

This is my first year teaching at my school. I have been struck by the strong sense of community shared by a diverse group of families. Our rural school can be found in the middle of farmland with orchards surrounding all sides. Many of our parents work on these farms. As a school, we are dedicated to creating a welcoming, positive learning environment that fosters life-long learners.

My Project

Curating a diverse and captivating classroom library is critical for student engagement with literature. I would like to provide my students with a classroom library that will excite and amaze even the most hesitant readers. Because this is my first year teaching third grade, I am still building my classroom library. By donating to this project, you will help provide my students with the variety of books that they deserve.

Reading inspires and changes lives.

Your donation will allow my students to be fully immersed in rich literature and will motivate my entire class. Donating these books to our classroom will lead to engaged and inspired students. It will help us meet our goal of fostering a life-long love of learning!

From identifying text features, making inferences, noting themes within text, and studying the development of characters, these quality and highly engaging books will allow my students to practice their literacy skills while also experiencing the joy of reading literature.
