"I get it!" These are some of the most powerful words in our classroom. I have 24 very diverse learners in a working class area who love to explore and create with hands-on activities. We have learners who are working at a wide range of academic levels and abilities, and who come from many different ethnic and financial backgrounds, and speak multiple languages. This year, we have an inclusion class with many students who are special needs and have IEPs.
Our third grade classroom is full of diverse learners who work best in a hands-on, individualized environment.
We try to achieve this by working in small groups in reading, writing, and math. My students love to experience learning for themselves by doing instead of just listening.
My Project
Our library has a lot of wonderful books, but after years of wear and tear, our book bins are broken and cracked. They no longer hold our books, and they have become less safe to use. The library is constantly a mess, and it is nearly impossible to find the book you are looking for.
We really need new bins for our library that aren't cracked and broken, and can hold up with all of our students searching for new books on a daily basis.
We are asking for new bins that are also color coded, and will help our students learn how to put them back in the right spots to keep organized. All of the supplies we are asking for will help us keep our library as organized as possible.
