This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am more than pleased to introduce you to my energetic kindergarten students. My students are learning both Spanish and English in our Dual Language program. They are inquisitive, playful, and willing to make mistakes in order to grow. They come from hardworking families. Our school is a Title I school located in Gardena, California. All students qualify for free breakfast and lunch, and most depend and appreciate these meals.

We are a team, a school family!

Just like any family, we look out for each other and encourage one another. The desire for my students to do well is a goal that is shared throughout our school and community.

My Project

My students are creative and love to write! A book binding machine in our classroom will equip them with the tools to create their own published books. A book that is created is treasured! These books will help my students build a sense of pride and increase their self confidence as they see their work turn into an actual book. This book binding machine will not only be used to create "treasures”, but used for binding journals for Social Studies, Science, ELD, and more.

My students confidently communicate with a pencil or their drawings.

I am very proud of their growth. I love to see them share and talk about their stories and being able to bind their writing into a book will make them feel like real authors with a complete book, a treasure.
