My students need sets of books and prizes to create a reading incentive program for the first and second graders in my school.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Leu's classroom raised $970
This project is fully funded
My Students
The first and second graders at my school charge into my room of books with enthusiasm. They are eager to grasp the stories and knowledge waiting for them on the shelves. Whether they are ready to read for themselves or have a loved one read to them they understand that the world of books is there to lead them to the greater world.
Our school has run a Battle of the Books program for their older students but the first and second graders are the most eager readers in the school and have felt left out.
Having a dedicated and doable program just for them will put them on solid footing as they move on to more challenging reading in the coming years.
My Project
My first and second graders don't want to be left behind. For the past two years they have watch the older grades in our elementary school participate in a Battle of the Books program. With some funding I plan to create a scaled down version for my younger students as well.
By having sets of twenty or so titles I plan to develop a school-wide plan that will allow any interested first and second grader to read from the list of books and earn prizes, recognition and at the end of the year participate in a classroom battle on their knowledge of what they have read.
